The Delhi government’s Mahila Samriddhi Yojana, a financial assistance program for women from economically weaker sections, is set to commence registrations on March 8, 2025, coinciding with International Women’s Day. Eligible women will receive a monthly aid of ₹2,500, with the first disbursements expected within one and a half months following registration.
This initiative fulfills a key election promise by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during the recent Delhi Assembly elections. The scheme aims to provide direct financial support to women, enhancing their economic independence and well-being.
Previously, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had proposed the Mahila Samman Yojana, offering ₹1,000 monthly to eligible women over 18, with plans to increase it to ₹2,100. However, the Delhi government’s Women and Child Development Department clarified that no such scheme had been officially notified, warning against fraudulent activities collecting information in its name.
The Mahila Samriddhi Yojana is part of a broader effort to empower women in Delhi, reflecting similar initiatives in other states. Eligible women are encouraged to register starting March 8 to benefit from this scheme.
