In a digital world obsessed with perfection, Jevan Bhatti is choosing something different, growth.
A data science student at Simon Fraser University, working in hospital staffing and operations, and building a fitness-driven online presence, Jevan represents a new generation of women who are balancing ambition, resilience, and authenticity.
But behind the gym content, discipline, and aesthetic progress pictures is a young woman who has faced heartbreak, loss, identity struggles, depression, and self-doubt and chosen to rebuild anyway.
Here is her story.
“I’m still very much in progress.”
When asked how she would introduce herself beyond Instagram, Jevan answers with honesty:
“Beyond what people see online, I’m someone who’s still very much in progress.”
Her days are divided between healthcare operations, academics, and content creation. She is building a meaningful career in STEM while growing as a creator and as a person.
“A lot of my content shows discipline and motivation,” she says, “but behind that is someone who has faced uncertainty, changed paths, dealt with setbacks, and learned to keep going anyway.”
At her core, she describes herself as hardworking, self-aware, and purpose-driven but human.
“I don’t have everything figured out. My journey is about becoming, not arriving.”
From Body Insecurity to Self-Respect
Jevan’s fitness journey didn’t begin from empowerment.
In high school, she admits she had an unhealthy relationship with her body and food. She was focused on being “as skinny as possible” and didn’t understand how damaging that mindset could be.
Things shifted slowly.
During COVID, she started thinking about health differently. After her parents’ divorce in 2021, emotional stress pushed her further inward. A friend encouraged her to start going to the gym.
“I didn’t know what I was doing. My form wasn’t perfect. But I committed.”
She began going every other day and taking daily walks. She learned that consistency matters more than perfection.
But life tested her again.
In 2024, she went through a major breakup and the end of a 10-year friendship. Depression followed. She stopped being active and gained significant weight.
“It was one of the lowest points of my life.”
Then came 2025, her reset year.
She studied proper form, workout splits, and muscle targeting. She rebuilt her routine intentionally.
“This year felt like a true restart. My progress now represents the message behind my content, you can rebuild.”
Discipline When Motivation Disappears
Jevan doesn’t rely on motivation.
“Motivation comes and goes. Showing up even imperfectly always moves you forward.”
Her strategy is simple:
- Focus on small consistent actions
- Track small wins
- Be kind to herself after setbacks
- Always return the next day
For her, discipline isn’t punishment. It’s self-respect.
“I remind myself why I started. It’s about resilience and taking control when life gets hard.”
Balancing STEM, Fitness & Content Creation
As a data science student and healthcare professional, her life is demanding.
“There are times during exams or big projects when I have to prioritize academics.”
Instead of chasing perfect balance, she focuses on intentional effort.
Even on busy days:
- A quick workout
- A small authentic post
- A moment of discipline
Because small actions compound.
“I don’t aim to do everything perfectly. I just make sure what matters to me gets attention.”
The Reality of Sharing Your Body Online
As a woman sharing fitness content, Jevan has faced harsh criticism.
She has received comments about:
- How her body “looked better before”
- Not being lean enough
- Visible body hair
- Cellulite
- Not looking like a supermodel
She has even received hateful remarks about her background and identity.
“At the same time, I receive messages from women saying they’re proud of me, that I motivated them, or that they love how realistic my journey is.”
Those messages matter.
“Confidence doesn’t come from other people’s approval. It comes from self-acceptance.”
Redefining Confidence
Her definition of confidence has evolved.
Before, she thought confidence would come once she reached a certain weight.
Now?
“Confidence is self-acceptance plus action.”
It’s:
- Going to the gym when you feel inexperienced
- Posting content despite fear of judgment
- Keeping promises to yourself
- Choosing your goals anyway
“My definition changed from trying to be impressive to trying to be real.”
The Loss That Changed Everything
In May 2025, Jevan lost her best friend of 18 years.
“I almost quit social media.”
Instead, his passing reminded her how short life is.
“If something ever happened to me, my biggest regret would be not trying.”
That realization changed her mindset.
Now, she creates without waiting for perfect timing. She pursues her passions without fear of judgment.
“Life is uncertain. That’s why I keep going.”
Between Cultures: Finding Her Identity
Growing up Punjabi in Vancouver, she often felt caught between worlds.
“Sometimes I felt too ‘white’ to fit in with Indian kids and too ‘Indian’ to fit in with white kids.”
Over time, she found pride in her heritage. She embraced multicultural friendships and learned to celebrate her identity fully.
Navigating both worlds shaped her resilience and independence.
“It taught me to embrace all parts of who I am while creating my own path.”
Independence Is Everything
When asked about independence, she lights up.
“My entire career and everything I do is for my independence.”
For Jevan, independence means:
- Financial stability
- Self-reliance
- Freedom to define her own life
- Not depending entirely on anyone
That’s why working in STEM matters to her. It offers stability, growth, and ownership.
“Independence isn’t just about money. It’s confidence, knowledge, and empowerment.”
Her Message to Young Women
“The hardest part of my fitness journey was starting.”
Her advice?
- You will be judged either way.
- You will feel intimidated.
- You will not know everything at first.
Start anyway.
“Life is too short not to do what you want. People will judge you whether you go to the gym or not, so focus on your goals.”
Final Words
Jevan Bhatti’s journey is not about reaching a perfect body or flawless success.
It’s about rebuilding.
It’s about resilience.
It’s about independence.
It’s about becoming.
And maybe that is the most powerful reminder for women today:
You don’t have to arrive.
You just have to keep becoming.
